Why the BJP's Agricultural bill 2020 is Anti-Farmer?
Hundreds of farmers are protesting across India, especially in Punjab & Haryana against three agricultural ordinances. The Protest was held by India's largest Farmer's Union, BharatiyaKishanUnion(BKU).
1. There are possibilities that in the name of reforms, the govt. is planning to discontinue the MSP regime which can be a black environment for farmers.
2. The emergence of private players can end the social welfare, damaged crops during drought, cyclone or flood may not initiate any subsidy income to small farmers.
3. Private players will take advantage through changes in the Essential commodities act, Consumers also have chances of getting exploited with higher price produce by private mandis.
4. Experts & Agri economists have mentioned that farmer's freedom to sell was never in question(there is already eNAM) and the reform obscures real intention.
5. It will give corporates the legal right to hoard and take advantage of high prices.
6. Small farmers may find it difficult to fetch better prices at markets further away because of constraint on travel and storage.
Therefore, the acts are more favourable towards private companies and not legally empowering the farmers.
